I worked with Mind Fuel (formerly Science Alberta) in early 2017 to re-build and re-design their entire website. The previous version was built in an old WordPress theme that was quite cumbersome to update and didn’t reflect Mind Fuel’s tech-savvy, future-thinking values.
The first step of the project was selecting a new theme that would allow us to easily include desired functionality (one goal in particular was the ability to have snippets of new blog posts automatically pulled into the homepage—the old theme needed to be manually updated). I then created three mock-ups to show different ways the theme could be customized to reflect Mind Fuel’s pre-existing brand standards while giving the website a fresh, updated feel.
Once a mock-up was selected, I dove into re-building the site from the ground up and fully customizing the selected theme using CSS to reflect the selected mock-up. The finished website is fully responsive, easily updated by the client, and beautifully showcases the wide range of educational programs Mind Fuel has to offer.
